Diane Marie Syms, 76, of Winfield passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. She was born May 30, 1942 in Chicago to William and Margaret (Feiler) Syms. Diane earned a Bachelor’s Degree in English and History from Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI, in 1964. She was employed as a Claims Adjuster at All State Insurance for over 20 years and most recently spent 10 years as a volunteer English as a Second Language instructor at People’s Resource Center in Wheaton. Diane was an avid reader, loved going to the movies and spending time with her family during the summer in St. Germain, WI. She is survived by her husband of 33 years David Baugher of Winfield; sons retired Lt. Colonel John Salentine USAF (Valerie) of Bristow, VA, Bill (Tamara McQueen-Salentine) of Aurora and Michael (Bethany Henrichs-Salentine) of Glen Ellyn; step-children Chris Baugher of Las Vegas, Lisa Fernau of Villa Park, Andrea King of Decatur, Kevin (Ashley) Baugher of Las Vegas and Kimberly (Chris) Pozdol of Las Vegas; grandchildren Christopher, Leah, Anna and Liam Salentine, Phillip and Dottie Lee, Shannon Fernau, Joel King and Colton and Emma Baugher; great grandson Sean Salentine; her beloved pets Sunny, Patches and Hero; as well as many cousins and close friends. Diane was preceded in death by her parents and son in-law Robert King. A Funeral Mass will take place at 9:30 a.m. Monday, October 15th at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 0S233 Church Street in Winfield.
