It is with great sadness that the family of Lizbeth Ruth Jones (nee Fitzsimmons) announces her passing. Lizbeth passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 19, 2018, at the age of 83. A native of Chicago, Liz attended Parker High School followed by Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois. It is at Knox College that, in 1953 on the steps of the student union, Liz met the man that she would be married to for 60 years. Liz dated James Jones throughout college and they were married on July 26, 1958 at Morgan Park Presbyterian Church in Chicago. After the birth of their son Kenneth in 1961, Liz and Jim moved to Wheaton and added two more children to their family; Margaret (Meg) in 1962 and Gary in 1965. Wheaton remained Liz’s home for the rest of her life. Liz loved vacationing in Door County, Wisconsin with her family, traveling with family and friends, and scouring antique stores and markets for unique finds. Over the decades Liz owned antiques businesses in Wheaton and Glen Ellyn. Lizbeth is survived by her husband of 60 years, Jim Jones, son Ken Jones (Julie), daughter Meg Howell (Stark) and son Gary Jones (Yuika). She is survived by six Howell grandchildren; Connor, Matthew, Kate, Beau, William and Elizabeth and one Jones (Gary and Yuika) granddaughter, Erika. A memorial visitation will take place at 2:00 followed by a brief service at 3:00 on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 E. Roosevelt Road, Wheaton, Illinois. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Alzheimer’s Association Illinois Chapter, 8430 W. Bryn Mawr, Suite 800, Chicago, IL 60631
