Cronin in December, 1946; and they enjoyed 57 years together. Together, they moved to the Chicago area and welcomed 3 children, Ellen Benson (George), Michael (Deborah) and George Jr. (Catherine). Intelligent, witty and always elegant, “Emmy” (to her grandchildren) was cherished for her great cooking, backscratches, skill at checkers, chocolate donut runs and for her always warm, welcoming home. In addition to Ellen and Michael, Emily is survived by 9 grandchildren and 3 great granddaughters. Having taught second grade at St. James in Maywood for many years, in retirement Emmy stayed active, volunteering at Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital. A devout Catholic, Emily has now been reunited with George (Rempie) and her son George, Jr. A memorial Mass will be said at St. Giles Chapel in St. Giles School, 1045 Linden in Oak Park, at 11:30am on June 23, 2018.
