Obituary

Sylvia Elizabeth Oen (nee Kuttner), 75, of West Chicago, IL peacefully passed away on October 11, 2017. She was born on February 3, 1942 in Lisle, IL, to the late Frederick “Fritz” and Petronilla “Nilla” Kuttner. She married Urban Oen on March 17, 1973 and he survives. Besides being a devoted wife, she was also the devoted mother of Barbara Oen, Kristi Oen (Justin Messier), Christopher Oen, Kathryn (Anthony) Catenacci, and John Oen. Grandmother of Anthony Catenacci, Oen Frost, DeAnna Fischer, Caterina Oen, James Fischer and Tyler Fischer. Loving sister to Ruth Kuttner, Nellie (Tom) Fassbender, Alice Kuttner and the late Ted Kuttner. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Sylvia enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She was a big fan of Elvis, as well as a devoted Chicago Cubs fan, and celebrated their 2016 World Series victory. She enjoyed rides through the country, especially in the fall with the changing of leaves. She enjoyed looking for wildlife, star gazing, and lighthouses. She took great pleasure and joy caring for her flowers. But what she enjoyed most was helping others. Sylvia also enjoyed her church, in which she was very active. Singing, gardening and writing poetry was also her passion. She took great pride in winning Lisle’s Fall Festival Queen in 1959.
