WHEATON - Walter E. Toll, Jr., 90, a resident of Wheaton for over 50 years, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at the Illinois Veterans Home in La Salle, IL. Walter was born June 5, 1927 in New Orleans, LA to Walter E Toll, Sr. and Rosalie Morgan Toll. He was employed as a computer technician with the FAA at Aurora Air Traffic Control for over 30 years. Prior to the FAA, Walter worked at a variety of TV and radio stations, and worked on radar/electronics for NASA's Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral. Walter was a veteran of the USCG-Merchant Marines and served during WW II as Radio Officer, during which time he was awarded the Merchant Marine Emblem. Walter was an avid fisherman, and also enjoyed photography, music, travel, ham radio, and card games. He is loved and will be missed by his wife, Mary Ann Zion Toll; children, Laura (Craig) Hill, Holly (Mark) Sherman, Scott Toll; grandchildren, Kyle Fuller, Caroline Fuller, Andrew Hill; sisters, Rosalie (Charles, deceased) Wichers, June (Paul, deceased) Wichers, and brother, Edward (Albertine) Toll. He is preceded in death by his parents, and son, Walter K. Toll. Cremation by Williams-Kampp Funeral Home. Private interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
