William J. Saelinger, 82, a resident of Wheaton for 53 years, passed away peacefully at his home on September 30, 2017, with his loving family by his side. He was born on September 24, 1935 to Philip and Catherine (Hartery) Saelinger.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Donna (nee Filak), and loving children Laura (Richard) Saelinger-Shafer of Elmhurst, Illinois and William J. (Julie) Saelinger of Salisbury, North Carolina; his cherished grandchildren Amanda and Kyle Shafer, Briana Saelinger and Ashley Waldrop; dear brother Ronald (Judith), of Poplar Grove, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, Lawrence.
Bill spent his career in the insurance claims industry, as a Regional Manager of Fidelity and Surety claims for Firemans Fund Insurance Company and after his retirement from Firemans Fund, for CNA Insurance Company as Surety Claims Counsel.
Bill had a deep love of family. With his dry sense of humor, he always kept his family laughing. He was a history enthusiast, a voracious reader and enjoyed photography and traveling.
He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of Marine Corps Dupage County Detachment #399 and American Legion Post #0556.

A celebration of Bill’s life will begin with visitation Saturday Oct. 7, 2017 at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home 430 E. Roosevelt Rd., Wheaton, IL from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., then driving in procession to St. Michael Catholic Church in Wheaton for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery, Wheaton, Illinois.
