Joseph E Szczepaniak, 94, beloved husband of Rose E Szczepaniak, went to live with his Eternal Father Saturday, September 14, 2013. Dear father of Rosemary(Szczepaniak) and John Urbin; Catherine(Szczepaniak) and John(deceased) Renwick; Richard and Jude(Myers) Szczepaniak; Joe and Carol(Sanders) Szczepaniak. Beloved Dzia dzia to his "Haniaks" young and old with more on the way! Brother to eight children of George and Bernice Szczepaniak. And also brother and friend to all who crossed his path, many of whom have passed before. If needed, he gave; if you broke it he would fix it; if it wasn't broken he'd tell you how to make it better and show you how to do it. World War II veteran, enlisted in the United States Navy, and served in Pearl Harbor and the South China Sea on the Destroyer Tender USS Black Hawk. Sixty year resident of Winfield, Illinois, he served as a Volunteer Fireman and Fire Trustee for over 25 years. As a man of strong Catholic faith he served St John the Baptist Parish as a member of the Knights of Columbus, Holy Name Society, and as usher for mass. He also served civically as a DuPage precinct committeeman and Winfield Police Commissioner. His volunteer efforts extend in every step he took. Visitation Tuesday from 3 to 6 p.m. at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home 430 E Roosevelt Rd., Wheaton, IL (one blk east of Naperville Rd). Additional visitation will be from 10:30 until time of Funeral Mass 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Church. Interment Assumption Cemetery.
