Loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend and teacher. Gigi Kimball has been the “nicest person in the room” since the day she was born. Known for her kindness, love, and generosity, Gigi has been the lovely wife to husband David, nurturing mother to her two remarkable sons Alex and Andrew, apple of her parents’ eye, supportive and caring sister to her two brothers and to all her brothers and sisters-in-law, amazingly welcoming and generous friend to her wonderful neighbors, friends, and teacher-buddies, and inspirational educator to all who had the pleasure of being in her classroom or library.

Starting at the age of one, hugging her little brother and later guarding and guiding both her brothers on the way to school, Gigi has always been a champion of the underdog and a nurturing soul. Throughout her school years, she was an exceptional student and leader earning the respect of her peers, coaches, and teachers alike. It was no surprise that she went into education.

Her career as a teacher is filled with stories of motivation and life-changing moments. As a social studies teacher, she challenged her students to think critically about the world we live in and all the lessons to learn from history. As a librarian, she not only helped kids find books that transported them to other realms and others that educated them about subjects previously foreign, but she also helped them navigate the cyber world and find new passions. She was one of the gleaming “gems” of Geneva Middle School for 28 years. She will not only be missed but she is irreplaceable.

As a friend and neighbor, Gigi always knew how to entertain and how to show love to all who were in need. She took a keen interest in making the world a better place whether it be organizing family to pack food for the hungry, pushing for politicians who dared to care for every citizen, or entertaining her neighbors and friends in her home. She will be remembered for her happy smile, warm hugs, awesome food, concern for the world, care for her family and friends, and genuine guidance of future generations. Her impact was immense; her legacy is secure; and her life will be celebrated by all who knew her for years to come.

The wake will take place at Williams-Kampp in Wheaton on Sunday, March 24th from 1:00 PM until 7:00PM with a prayer service at 5:30. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to Bernie’s Book Bank who “processes and distributes quality books to significantly increase book ownership for at-risk infants, toddlers, and school-age children throughout Chicagoland." at
